Photographer’s goals for 2025

As 2024 comes to a close, I find myself reflecting on the year I’ve had as a photographer, while also setting my sights on the future. The past year has been a transformative one for me — not just in terms of photography, but in life as well. In December of 2023, I officially launched my photography LLC, setting the foundation for an exciting 2024. This year, I’ve had the pleasure of photographing 15 wonderful couples and families, all while navigating my first year of marriage, transitioning full-time marketing jobs to the fast-paced world of big tech, and embracing the challenges of photography business ownership.

Looking back, I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve had to grow as a photographer, and for the amazing clients who entrusted me to capture their special moments. It hasn’t always been easy balancing everything, but I’ve learned valuable lessons in time management, setting boundaries, and prioritizing my health.

Reflecting on 2024 and welcoming a new year

As I look ahead to 2025, there are a few goals I’d like to manifest for the coming year. The New England and New York photography scene is vibrant and competitive, and I am eager to expand my reach while continuing to hone my craft. Here’s what I’m focused on for the year to come:

  • Photograph more and expand my portfolio. Plain and simple. In 2025, one of my top priorities is to double the number of shoots I take on. This year, I’ve seen my network grow as more friends, referrals, and word-of-mouth recommendations have led to wonderful opportunities. I’ve had the pleasure of working with couples for engagement photos, capturing family portraits, and documenting weddings throughout New York and New England, and I want to continue this momentum. My goal is to find a healthy balance between these three key areas — engagements, weddings, and family photography — as they’re where I feel most in my element. Whether it’s a New York City engagement session, an intimate New England wedding, or a joyful family photo shoot in the scenic towns of Connecticut or Massachusetts, I’m excited to photograph more unique love stories and special moments.
  • Market myself better and boost organic SEO strategy. One area I’m particularly focused on is marketing myself better. This blog is one step in that direction. Not only does it allow me to connect with my audience and showcase my photography, but it also helps me improve my SEO (search engine optimization) and visibility in an increasingly competitive market. There are many talented photographers in New York, and I want to make sure my work stands out, especially when potential clients are looking for engagement photographers, wedding photographers, or family photographers in New York or New England. I’ve also made it a priority to grow my online presence through social media, blogging, and other channels that allow me to reach couples, families, and individuals seeking photography services in the Northeast. By doing so, I hope to attract more destination wedding clients and engagement sessions throughout New England, particularly in areas like Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. As a New Englander myself I would love to photograph in locations I still have strong ties to.
  • Develop My Photography Skills and Business Acumen. My passion for photography is unwavering, and while managing a full-time job alongside my photography business is a balancing act, it pushes me to keep learning and growing. One of my key goals for 2025 is to continue improving my skills and knowledge — both as a photographer and as a business owner. I aim to develop smarter workflows, improve client communication, and invest in new gear to ensure I’m always ready for whatever my clients need. Ultimately, my dream is for photography to become my full-time career. Though I’m still juggling my marketing job, every photoshoot, every interaction with clients, and every moment spent behind the camera brings me closer to that goal. The journey is exciting, and I’m excited to see where 2025 takes me.
  • A Heartfelt Thank You and Looking Ahead

None of this would be possible without the incredible clients and supporters who have been part of my journey. To all the couples, families, and friends who have entrusted me with capturing their most precious moments this year, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You make my job so rewarding, and I’m excited to work with more of you in the future!

As we approach the holiday season, I wish everyone a wonderful, relaxing time with family and friends. 2024 was an incredible year, and I can’t wait to dive into 2025 with renewed energy, passion, and goals. Here’s to more beautiful photography sessions, new connections, and a thriving photography business!

    See you in 2025!
